New MacBook Pro’s
Have been waiting for months for this. Heading to the Apple Store tonight, hopefully leaving with a box under my arm. Apple - MacBook Pro
Update: Well, didn’t bring home a new MacBook as hoped. Apple added another configuration choice to the mix, a 1920x1200 pixel display ($100 option) that will do a full HD image, but as I don’t need high-res graphics as much as crisp text for writing I wanted to actually see the display running at that resolution and then see how it looked when scaled back to the (then non-native) “normal” resolution of 1680x1050 to see if text lost any of its normal crispness. The Apple store had no high-res MacBook available on the floor to demo. I can see the high-res mode as a nice feature to drive a (future?) 23” Apple Cinema Display, but I need to see it first on the laptop. Was so looking forward to a new machine tonight.
The other variable in the mix is the upcoming “resolution independence” feature of OS X Leopard and how that will manifest itself in a situation like this, that of getting the hi-res display and then “scaling back” in some resolution-independent way. What will that look like??
